The Village of Crossmichael

Crossmichael

Crossmichael village

Crossmichael, a small village straddling the A713 Castle Douglas to Ayr road, has existed for hundreds of years. The church of Crossmichael is believed to have existed as early as 1547, although the earliest part of the present building, the round bell tower, was probably added in 1611. The remaining part dates from 1751. Further information can be obtained by purchasing a short historical note by S.C. Thomson, from the church at a modest price. The village, mostly of traditional stone built, slate roofed houses, it boasts a shop (general store and PO), friendly public house also serving meals, marina and church.
